John Bumgarner

Welcome to the John Bumgarner State Farm office, proudly serving Hurricane, WV, and the surrounding area. As a long‐time resident of the community, I take pride in working with neighbors, families, and business owners to help them prepare for both everyday risks and unexpected moments.

I earned my B.A. in Accounting from West Virginia University, and my professional background includes experience in financial and cost accounting, followed by time in the medical device industry. Those roles helped shape my understanding of business operations, financial responsibility, and long‐term decision‐making. In 2018, I fulfilled a long‐standing goal of becoming a business owner by opening my State Farm agency right here in Hurricane, WV—a community that has meant so much to my family and my team.

Our office assists with a broad range of coverage needs, including Auto Insurance and Homeowners Insurance, along with Renters Insurance, Condo Insurance, and Life Insurance for different stages of life. We also support Business Insurance and financial services. Our focus is on helping customers understand their options, so coverage decisions feel informed and manageable. Being involved locally is important to me. Over the years, I have supported and participated in various community and business organizations, including the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce, and have been involved with local athletic, youth, and development groups. Supporting small businesses and contributing to the growth of our area continues to be a meaningful part of my work.

Our office is located at 3550 Teays Valley Road, Suite 1, in Hurricane, WV. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with family and friends in the valley and getting out on the golf course when I can.
